QUETTA; Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday raised objections over the recent appointment of five independent directors to the Pakistan Television (PTV) Corporation’s Board of Directors, stating that the new board lacks representation from Balochistan.
In a post on X, Bugti questioned the absence of Baloch representation, asking, “Are the people of Balochistan not talented enough?”
Responding to the Chief Minister’s concerns, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar clarified in his own X post that Balochistan’s right is fully recognized. He said that several names from the province were also shortlisted, but due to incomplete documentation, they could not be contacted.
Tarar added that the PTV board is not yet complete and more appointments are expected.
Welcoming the clarification, CM Bugti thanked the information minister and said, “The Prime Minister has genuine love for the people of Balochistan.”
According to official sources, the newly appointed independent directors include Yasir Qureshi and Professor Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed from Lahore, Tasneem Rehman from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ashiaq Baig from Sindh, and Khalid Mahmood Khan from Islamabad.
