KARACHI; The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has extended the deadline for vehicle owners to replace their existing number plates with Ajrak-designed ones until December 31, 2025. The earlier deadline was October 31.
According to the official notification, the extension applies to all types of vehicles. The decision follows public complaints about long delays in plate issuance due to growing application backlogs and limited processing capacity.
The department currently charges Rs1,850 for motorbikes and Rs2,450 for cars. Many citizens have objected to paying again, arguing they already covered the cost previously. Several have also urged the Excise Department to launch city-wide facilitation camps and curb alleged misuse of power by traffic police.
