LAHORE; After Abida Parveen’s recent denial of cancer rumours, another wave of celebrity misinformation surfaced — this time targeting singer Naseebo Lal. The veteran artist has refuted false reports claiming she gave birth at the age of 56, clarifying that her son was blessed with a child, making her a grandmother.
The confusion began after Naseebo Lal posted a picture of her newborn grandchild on Tuesday, captioned, “Betay kay liye koi khubsurat aur munfard naam tajweez karein,” asking followers to suggest a name for her “beta”. The word “beta” (son) led several social media pages to misinterpret the post, spreading unverified claims that the singer herself had given birth.
Within hours, the singer issued a clarification, writing, “Important announcement. Stay away from fake news.” The next day, she confirmed the truth in two new posts: one celebrating, “Praise be to God, I have become a dadi,” and another thanking her fans for their love and congratulations.
Naseebo Lal, a celebrated playback singer, has been part of Pakistan’s music industry since the early 2000s. She has lent her voice to many Urdu and Punjabi songs and gained renewed fame through the Coke Studio Season 14 hit “Tu Jhoom,” performed alongside Sufi legend Abida Parveen.
She also collaborated with Aima Baig and Young Stunners on “Groove Mera,” the official anthem of the Pakistan Super League’s sixth edition, though it received mixed reactions from fans.
This incident follows another case of misinformation when false rumours about Abida Parveen’s health circulated online. Her team later dismissed the reports, confirming that she was in good health.
