Pakpattan: The annual Urs celebrations commemorating the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar are underway in Pakpattan with fervor and devotion. Sajjada Nasheen of the Dargah, Diwan Maudood Masood Chishti Farooqi, along with hundreds of other custodians and members of the Chishti family, performed centuries-old rituals to ceremonially open the historic Bahishti Darwaza (Gate of Paradise) for pilgrims.

On this occasion, a spectacular fireworks display illuminated the shrine and surrounding areas, which have been decorated with vibrant lights, giving the entire city a festive appearance. Following the unlocking ceremony, traditional sacred offerings were distributed among the devotees.
Thousands of pilgrims from across Pakistan and abroad are participating in the celebrations, chanting “Haqq Farid Ya Farid” as they pass through the Bahishti Darwaza, considered a moment of great spiritual blessing. The gate will remain open until the Fajr prayer, allowing hundreds of thousands of visitors to walk through it. The Urs rituals are scheduled to continue until the Fajr call to prayer on the 10th of Muharram.
