LAHORE; Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday unveiled a special relief card for flood victims, along with a comprehensive compensation package aimed at supporting families affected by recent floods.

Speaking at a ceremony at the Alhamra Cultural Complex, Maryam Nawaz also digitally inaugurated the Flood Damage Survey Portal and administered an oath to the survey teams, calling them the “sons and daughters of Punjab.”

She said a total of 2,200 teams, comprising 10,000 members from the Revenue, Agriculture and Livestock departments, district administration, and the Pakistan Army, would conduct door-to-door assessments across the province.

The chief minister announced that families whose homes were completely destroyed would be given Rs1 million, while those with partially damaged houses would receive Rs500,000.

Similarly, Rs500,000 would be provided for the loss of livestock, while farmers owning up to 12 acres of land would receive Rs20,000 per acre for crop damage.

Maryam Nawaz said the relief card system would ensure transparent delivery of funds and prevent misuse. “These teams are not merely calculating damages; they are performing an act of worship,” she remarked, urging officials to ensure every deserving person receives full compensation.

She added that the government was also arranging shelter and food for flood-hit families ahead of the upcoming winter season. “I am determined that no affected individual should be left without support. Every rupee of loss must be compensated,” she stressed.

Earlier in the week, Maryam had already announced a special flood relief package including Rs1m compensation for deceased family members, livestock loss, and destroyed houses.

A high-level 14-member committee has also been formed to oversee relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The chief minister underlined that these measures reflected the government’s commitment to protect vulnerable communities and rebuild their lives with dignity.
