ISLAMABAD; The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has emerged as a frontrunner in promoting ethical and inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pakistan by hosting a landmark multistakeholder dialogue titled “Ethical AI for All.”

Organized in collaboration with The Inclusion Lab and Digital Intellix 4PL, the event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and United Nations representatives at NUST’s Deep Learning Lab (DLL) to deliberate on strategies for reducing bias, fostering diversity, and ensuring that AI benefits extend to all communities, particularly those in rural and marginalized areas.

The dialogue opened with Dr. Irtiza, Principal SINES, setting the tone for forward-looking discussions on responsible AI adoption. Keynote speaker Julian Gorman, Head of GSMA Asia Pacific, highlighted the urgent need for stronger digital infrastructure to enable inclusive AI.

Adding a global perspective, UN representative Afke Bootsman shared insights on ethical AI frameworks, while Michael Schulz, Advisor and Board Director at The Inclusion Lab, outlined nine key governance priorities to support inclusive AI systems.

Showcasing NUST’s leadership in AI research, Dr. Faisal Shafait and Dr. Momina Moetesum presented innovative projects designed to embed ethics and fairness into AI solutions. The event also featured contributions from major industry players, including Ericsson, Telenor, Ignite, Oracle, Mercurial Minds, and Khan Academy Pakistan underscoring the importance of cross-sector partnerships in shaping the country’s AI ecosystem.

Aligned with Pakistan’s newly approved National AI Policy 2025, the dialogue served as a critical platform for strengthening collaboration between academia, government, and industry. NUST reaffirmed its commitment to driving innovation with a focus on social impact and equity, consolidating its role as a national leader in advancing responsible AI development.
