RAWALPINDI; The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi on Friday dismissed the interim bail pleas of PTI leaders Raja Basharat and Sanam Javed in multiple protest-related cases from September, October, and November.
ATC Judge Amjid Ali Shah, while hearing the cases, also rejected the medical certificate submitted on behalf of Raja Basharat. His interim bail was cancelled in three cases linked to protests in Attock, after both sides completed arguments.
Prosecutor Zaheer Shah argued that the accused had been on bail for eight months, were hindering the investigation, and attempting to influence court proceedings.
The judge remarked that the bail petitions had been pending for months and the accused were deliberately causing delays, before announcing their dismissal.
Similarly, the court rejected Sanam Javed’s bail in two Attock cases. A medical certificate from a Peshawar-based skin specialist was presented in her defence, but the court accepted the prosecution’s stance that she had already joined the investigation and her presence had been established.
The ATC, agreeing with the prosecution’s arguments, ruled to cancel the interim bails of both leaders.
