LAHORE; The Lahore High Court has suspended the orders of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its Adjudicator, thereby restoring the presidency of Mr. Shakil Sheikh, the elected President of the Islamabad Regional Cricket Association (RCA). As a result of the court’s ruling, the elected associations of the Islamabad Region and its zones have also been reinstated.
According to details, on October 24, 2025, Justice Ch. Sultan Mahmood of the Lahore High Court, during the hearing, suspended the PCB and Adjudicator’s decisions that had previously nullified the election of Mr. Shakil Sheikh. The court ruled that the writ petition filed against the PCB’s constitutional framework is maintainable.
Mr. Shakil Sheikh, the petitioner, was represented by renowned lawyer Mr. Tufail Rizvi Advocate, who argued that his client was the duly elected President of the Islamabad Regional Cricket Association, but the PCB Adjudicator failed to fulfill the legal requirements during the proceedings. He stated that the Adjudicator acted in a questionable manner, violating his client’s fundamental rights and unjustly removing him from his elected position.
The PCB’s counsel objected to the maintainability of the writ petition; however, after hearing arguments from both sides, the learned judge ruled that the petition filed against the PCB’s constitutional actions was indeed maintainable.
Following the court’s decision, the leadership of the Islamabad Regional Cricket Association has once again been handed over to Mr. Shakil Sheikh, bringing relief and happiness among the elected office-bearers and cricket circles of the region.
According to sources, this decision is being regarded as a significant step toward strengthening the organizational structure of Islamabad cricket, while representatives from the region and zones have welcomed the court’s verdict.
