Web Desk; Authorities have decided to initiate a nationwide crackdown against foreigners, including Afghan nationals, found in possession of fake Pakistani identity cards, official sources confirmed on Wednesday.

According to the sources, the Ministry of Interior has instructed the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and law enforcement agencies to develop a joint action plan aimed at identifying and prosecuting individuals holding counterfeit CNICs. Lists of those suspected of possessing forged documents are currently being compiled.

Under the new plan, fake identity cards will be cancelled, and violators will face fines and arrest. The operations will be carried out in coordination with law enforcement agencies based on verified intelligence, ensuring a targeted and lawful process.

Meanwhile, data obtained by Aaj News revealed that a total of 5,154 Afghan nationals have been repatriated from Rawalpindi as part of the ongoing verification and deportation campaign. Of these, 2,817 individuals were found without valid documents, 232 had expired visas, and 22 possessed invalid refugee cards.

The official record also noted that 1,394 people held Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, while 665 were Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders. Following verification, 1,027 individuals were released, while 185 remained in holding centres.

So far this year, 3,942 undocumented Afghan nationals have been deported, according to official figures.

In Balochistan, particularly in Quetta and surrounding regions, operations to clear illegal Afghan settlements have intensified. As a result, many families — some of whom have lived in the province for more than four decades — have begun dismantling their homes and preparing to return.

Afghan residents told Aaj News that they were cooperating with authorities but expressed anxiety about their future as they sold their remaining possessions before leaving.

Officials said that the repatriation process has gained momentum after the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with thousands of undocumented Afghans opting for voluntary return.
