Uzbekistan Airways Expands Tashkent–Islamabad Flights, Boosting Regional Connectivity
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterSend on Whatsapp

Web Desk; Uzbekistan Airways, the national airline of Uzbekistan, has announced the expansion of its flight operations between Tashkent and Islamabad. Starting October 28, 2025, the airline will increase the frequency of flights on the “Tashkent–Islamabad–Tashkent” route from once a week to twice a week.

The decision demonstrates Uzbekistan Airways’ commitment to strengthening air links between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, responding to the growing demand from business travelers, tourists, and the Pakistani diaspora. It also reflects the deepening ties between the two countries in trade, culture, and tourism.

Currently, Uzbekistan Airways operates two weekly flights on the Tashkent–Lahore route and one on the Tashkent–Islamabad route. Due to consistently high passenger traffic, with flights often fully booked days before departure, the airline has decided to add a second Islamabad service. This will give passengers more flexibility in travel planning and make booking easier.

Tashkent International Airport serves as a major transit hub in Central Asia, connecting passengers to more than 50 destinations worldwide, including Europe, North America, the Middle East, and East Asia. Through Tashkent, travelers from Pakistan will be able to enjoy smooth connections to cities such as Istanbul, Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Baku, and Astana. This expanded network makes Uzbekistan Airways a more attractive option for international travel.

The increased flight frequency is expected to strengthen tourism and cultural cooperation between the two nations. Uzbekistan, home to historic Silk Road cities like Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, offers Pakistani tourists a chance to explore shared Islamic heritage and centuries-old architecture. Similarly, easier access will allow more Uzbek tourists to discover Pakistan’s natural beauty, spiritual landmarks, and hospitality.

Expanding the Tashkent–Islamabad route is in line with the shared vision of Uzbekistan and Pakistan to boost regional trade, connectivity, and people-to-people ties. Improved air transport not only supports economic diplomacy and tourism but also plays a crucial role in linking Central and South Asia more closely.

Founded in 1992, Uzbekistan Airways operates flights to over 50 global destinations. The airline is recognized for its modern fleet, strong safety record, and high service standards. Tashkent International Airport is strategically located, serving as a gateway between East and West. With the addition of new flights, Uzbekistan Airways is further solidifying its position as a key connector in the region.

This expansion is more than just an increase in flights—it is a step toward closer cooperation, greater mobility, and enhanced global access for Pakistani travelers.
