RAWALPINDI; Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), chaired the 272nd Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The conference began with Fateha for the martyrs of recent terrorist incidents carried out by Indian-backed terror groups. The COAS lauded the courage, resolve, and sacrifices of the armed forces in combating foreign-sponsored terrorism and praised their role in ongoing flood relief and rescue operations alongside civil authorities and law enforcement agencies.

During the session, the participants conducted a detailed review of counter-terrorism operations, emerging threats, and the military’s operational preparedness. The forum reiterated that the armed forces are fully prepared to counter hostile designs of adversaries in every domain.

It emphasized that the alliance between criminal and terrorist networks backed by political patronage — which is harming national interests and public security — will no longer be tolerated.

The conference voiced serious concern over recent irresponsible and provocative statements made by the Indian political and military leadership, terming them part of India’s pattern of creating war hysteria for domestic political gains. The commanders agreed that such rhetoric could escalate tensions and threaten regional peace.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty, the forum vowed to deliver a “swift and decisive response” to any Indian aggression, effectively dismantling any perception of strategic advantage due to geography. “Any attempt to establish a new normal will be met with Pakistan’s own new normal — a rapid and retributive response,” the statement read.

The forum pledged to intensify counterterrorism actions against Indian-sponsored groups such as Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan, ensuring their networks are dismantled across all domains.

The commanders also appreciated recent high-level diplomatic engagements and welcomed the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, calling it a historic step to boost strategic ties and strengthen multi-domain cooperation for a joint response to external threats.

The conference reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in line with UN Security Council resolutions, as well as unwavering backing for the Palestinian cause, including the two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital.

In his concluding remarks, the COAS directed commanders to uphold the highest standards of operational readiness, discipline, fitness, innovation, and quick response capabilities. He expressed complete confidence in the Pakistan Army’s ability to respond effectively to conventional, sub-conventional, hybrid, and asymmetric threats.
