RAWALPINDI; Security forces carried out a major counterterrorism operation in the Zahri area of Khuzdar district, Balochistan, on Saturday, killing at least 14 terrorists and injuring more than 20, the military confirmed.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation targeted militants linked to the banned Fitna Al Hindustan terrorist group. The statement said that during the intense exchange of fire, more than 14 militants were killed, over 20 were wounded, and several of their hideouts were destroyed.
Security sources revealed that the terrorists, facing repeated setbacks in recent months, had become increasingly desperate and were plotting to carry out attacks to harass civilians in the area. However, timely action by the security forces foiled their plans.
Following the successful operation, local residents reportedly came out in support of the security forces, raising pro-army slogans and vowing full cooperation in efforts to eradicate terrorism from the region. They also lauded the sacrifices made by the security personnel to maintain peace and security.
Officials emphasized that such operations will continue with full force to ensure public safety and to root out elements involved in destabilizing the country. “The security forces remain fully committed to eliminating terrorism and restoring lasting peace in the region,” the ISPR added.
