Mumbai: Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a ₹2 crore defamation suit against the makers of the recently released streaming series The Bads of Bollywood.

Wankhede, who came into the national spotlight during the 2021 Aryan Khan drug case, claims the series has “maliciously and inaccurately” depicted him in a manner that damages his reputation.

The suit, filed before a Mumbai civil court, alleges that the show portrays Wankhede as a corrupt and publicity-hungry officer, while ignoring the facts of his service record and the ongoing legal battles in which he has been cleared of wrongdoing.

His petition states that the series has caused “irreparable harm” to his image as a government servant and has also impacted his family life.

Through the defamation plea, Wankhede has demanded monetary damages of ₹2 crore as well as an injunction on streaming platforms to remove or modify the contested content.

The producers of the series have not yet issued an official statement, but industry sources suggest they are preparing to defend the show as “fair comment” based on public record. The next hearing is expected later this month.
