Both sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, covering areas such as peace and security, climate change, aviation, trade, investment, science and technology, culture, and tourism.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Pakistan to expand bilateral ties. He stressed the importance of institutional linkages to take the relationship to “new heights.”

He also briefed the Pakistani side about the inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, emphasizing that the project was built in line with the principle of equitable and reasonable utilization of water resources. Dr. Beker highlighted Ethiopia’s pivotal role in regional integration, particularly in leading the climate agenda and sharing resources with neighboring countries.

Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan appreciated Ethiopia’s contribution to regional cooperation and said that economic diplomacy remains central to strengthening bilateral relations. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to its “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies.

The Additional Secretary also briefed the Ethiopian envoy on preparations for the 5th Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference & Single Country Exhibition, scheduled to be held in Addis Ababa from October 16 to 18, 2025.
