BANNU; At least six personnel of the Pakistan Army and Federal Constabulary embraced martyrdom on Tuesday when militants targeted the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.

According to the military’s media wing, five terrorists attempted to breach the compound by ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the boundary wall, causing part of the structure to collapse. The powerful blast also damaged nearby civilian property and left three people injured.

“Displaying extraordinary courage and professional excellence, security forces swiftly engaged the attackers and neutralized all five terrorists, identified as members of the Indian proxy network ‘Fitna al-Khwarij’,” the ISPR stated.

The statement added that a clearance operation was underway in the vicinity to ensure no further threat remained. “The perpetrators of this heinous and cowardly act will be brought to justice,” it said.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve, ISPR stressed: “The armed forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to root out Indian-sponsored terrorism. The sacrifices of our brave soldiers and innocent civilians only strengthen our resolve to defend the country at all costs.”

Rising Wave of Terror in Pakistan

The attack comes amid a sharp surge in militant violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. According to a recent report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), the country witnessed 78 terrorist incidents in June alone, claiming around 100 lives.

The fatalities included 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six militants, and two members of local peace committees. Another 189 people were wounded — 126 of them security forces and 63 civilians.

In total, 175 deaths were recorded during June as a result of terrorist violence and counter-operations.

Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies have been conducting aggressive counterterrorism operations across KP and Balochistan. Earlier in August, 47 militants linked to Indian-backed networks were killed in separate engagements in Zhob district, Balochistan, as they attempted to infiltrate from Afghanistan.
