ISLAMABAD; Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday alleged that Shahrez Khan, son of Aleema Khanum, sister of party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was abducted from his Lahore residence by men in plain clothes.
PTI lawyer Rana Mudassar Umar stated that unidentified individuals entered Aleema Khan’s home and took Shahrez away, adding that no case has been registered against him and he has no political involvement. He said the family remains unaware of Shahrez’s whereabouts and that legal recourse would be sought through the Lahore High Court for his recovery.
The Lahore Police told media that they were unaware of the incident and would respond once an official complaint is filed. PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqqas Akram condemned the act on X (formerly Twitter), calling it “thuggery and oppression” and urged the government and Chief Justice to ensure Shahrez’s immediate recovery.
The party’s official account said the household staff were beaten and family members harassed during the abduction, calling the incident “fascism.”
PTI issued a statement describing the alleged attack as “the height of thuggery,” claiming that Shahrez was taken from his bedroom after doors were broken and that he was tortured in front of his two children.
The statement also alleged that Shahrez had been prevented from traveling with his wife at Lahore Airport the previous day, labeling the act a “blatant violation of basic human rights.”
Several political figures condemned the incident. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and former National Assembly opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan described the abduction as despicable and called for Shahrez’s immediate release. PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja also highlighted the harassment of the household staff during the incident.
Shahrez Khan, an Oxford MBA graduate and regional head at Simba Global, is originally from Lahore and also competes as a triathlete.
