QUETTA; Security forces have launched a search operation to recover Ziarat Assistant Commissioner (AC) Muhammad Afzal and his son, who were abducted during a visit to the popular tourist spot Zezri on Sunday, officials said.
According to Levies, unidentified armed men kidnapped the AC, his son, a gunman, and a driver at gunpoint. The gunman and driver were later released, but the assailants took the AC and his son with them, setting the official vehicle on fire before fleeing.
Deputy Commissioner Ziarat Zakaullah Durani told newsmen that the victims had been visiting a picnic point when they were intercepted. Despite an extensive search, no breakthrough in their recovery has been achieved so far.
The incident follows a similar case two months ago, when Tump Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Hanif Norzai was abducted.
Balochistan, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has recently experienced a surge in terrorist activity, partly due to infiltration attempts from neighbouring Afghanistan. Just last week, security forces killed 47 Indian-backed militants in Zhob during multiple border operations.
