LAHORE, August 4, 2025 – Pakistan Railways has confirmed that no attack occurred on the Quetta-to-Peshawar-bound Jaffer Express, clarifying reports circulating on social media and in some sections of the press.
According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Railways Headquarters in Lahore, the train is continuing its journey safely toward its destination and all passengers are unharmed.
As part of routine security protocol, a pilot engine is dispatched ahead of passenger trains, especially on sensitive routes. On this occasion, too, a pilot engine was sent in advance of the Jaffer Express to ensure track safety. Around 10:00 AM, the pilot engine reportedly came under fire, with three shots heard during the surveillance run.
Sensing possible danger, railway officials promptly halted the main train at a secure location until the route was declared clear. After a thorough security inspection, the Jaffer Express resumed its journey. The pilot engine also returned safely to its base.
Pakistan Railways emphasized that all passengers remain safe and that the train is now proceeding without further incident. The department reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and maintaining vigilance in coordination with law enforcement agencies across vulnerable areas.
