Qingdao, China: Amid India’s growing diplomatic isolation on key global platforms, Pakistan reaffirmed its active international engagement through a prominent and culturally grounded presence at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ministerial meeting held in Qingdao.

Representing Pakistan, Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Culture and National Heritage, Huzaifa Rehman, delivered a compelling address that underscored Pakistan’s commitment to peace, regional integration, and cultural diplomacy.

In his remarks, Minister Rehman emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing cooperation within the SCO framework, describing China as not merely a neighbor, but “a brother.” He called for increased regional connectivity, protection of shared cultural heritage, and collaborative tourism initiatives — themes that resonated strongly with attending delegates.

“Pakistan is fully committed to enhancing its cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at every level,” he stated. “China is not just a neighbor but a brother, and we are determined to work with all member states to make the SCO a robust, forward-looking, and effective platform.”

The speech earned praise for its forward-looking tone and thoughtful emphasis on cultural cooperation, showcasing Pakistan’s shift toward a diplomacy rooted in shared values and soft power. Rehman’s participation included a series of high-level bilateral meetings, further strengthening Pakistan’s regional ties.

He concluded with a reaffirmation of the Pakistan-China partnership, saying, “Pakistan and China are more than just neighbors — we are brothers at heart. Pakistan deeply values China’s unwavering support at global forums, and we envision a region where culture and tourism drive sustainable peace and unity.”

Pakistan’s role at the SCO ministerial marks a strategic evolution in its foreign policy, placing culture and people-centric diplomacy at the heart of its international engagements, even as geopolitical dynamics continue to shift in the region.
