Uzbekistan, Pakistan Leaders Review Progress on Strategic Partnership and Key Projects

Islamabad (Web-Desk); During the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization summit On July 4 in Khankendi, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed priority areas for further expanding and deepening the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership, guided by the adopted “road map.” They expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum of bilateral engagement, highlighted by increased trade volumes, a rising number of joint ventures, the establishment of direct flights, and the opening of trade houses in Karachi and Lahore.

Special focus was placed on accelerating cooperation in trade, economic, investment, transport, and communication sectors, with particular emphasis on advancing the Trans-Afghan railway project.

The two sides underscored the importance of effectively organizing the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the planned business forum later this year to bolster economic collaboration.

President Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Sharif also exchanged views on key regional and international developments, reaffirming their commitment to continued close coordination on shared priorities.
