Rawalpindi: In a significant development aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and advancing shared interests, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force (PAF), has completed an official visit to the United States of America — the first by a serving PAF Air Chief in over a decade.

The high-profile visit marked a strategic milestone in Pakistan-U.S. defence relations and contributed to deepening institutional ties while addressing key regional and global security challenges.

According to ISPR, during the visit, the Air Chief held a series of high-level meetings with senior U.S. military and political leadership.

At the Pentagon, he met Ms. Kelli L. Seybolt, Secretary of the Air Force (International Affairs), and General David W. Allvin, Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force.

Discussions focused on advancing military cooperation, enhancing interoperability, and exploring avenues for joint training and technology exchange.

The Air Chief highlighted the historic and multifaceted relationship between Pakistan and the United States, especially in defence and security cooperation.

He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen military-to-military ties and training engagements between the two Air Forces.

Both sides agreed to continue high-level military exchanges, recognizing their importance in sustaining momentum on collaborative initiatives such as operational exercises and professional development programs.

At the U.S. State Department, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu met Mr. Brown L. Stanley from the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs and Mr. Eric Meyer from the Bureau of South & Central Asian Affairs.

These meetings provided a platform to underscore Pakistan’s constructive role in fostering regional stability, its steadfast commitment to counterterrorism, and its perspectives on evolving geopolitical dynamics in South and Central Asia.

During engagements at Capitol Hill, the Air Chief also held discussions with prominent U.S. lawmakers including Mike Turner, Rich McCormick, and Bill Huizenga.

These dialogues reinforced the importance of sustained engagement to strengthen bilateral ties and offered an opportunity to present Pakistan’s views on strategic challenges, regional security frameworks, and the impact of emerging technologies on defence cooperation.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s status as a peace-loving nation, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu reaffirmed the country’s enduring sacrifices and operational successes in the global war on terror and outlined Pakistan’s evolving security considerations amid the rapidly shifting regional landscape.

The landmark visit not only underscored the Pakistan Air Force’s commitment to promoting regional and global peace but also laid the foundation for renewed institutional collaboration, strategic dialogue, and enhanced interoperability between the Pakistan Air Force and the United States Air Force.
