ISLAMABAD (MNN); A prominent businessman, Amir Awan, died after being shot by armed robbers during a late-night dacoity at his farmhouse in Orchard Scheme early Monday morning.
According to police officials, five armed suspects equipped with submachine guns and wearing bulletproof jackets stormed the farmhouse, as seen in CCTV footage. Initial findings suggest the victim resisted the attackers.
The injured businessman was first taken to a government hospital and later shifted to a private facility, where he succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
The deceased owned a car showroom in Aabpara, and the area where the incident occurred is known to house properties owned by influential individuals, including senior political figures.
Police have registered a case at Shahzad Town Police Station under Section 397 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s wife, Aisha Awan.
According to the FIR, Aisha Awan woke up around 2:45am after hearing noise and found her husband struggling with three armed men inside the bedroom, while two others were positioned outside the window. Their two sons were asleep in separate rooms at the time.
She stated that when she raised an alarm, the attackers opened fire with the intent to kill, critically injuring her husband with a bullet wound to the abdomen.
The commotion alerted the couple’s sons, prompting the assailants to flee through the window. Two security guards reported that the robbers snatched their mobile phones and cash, while another guard was locked inside a room during the incident.
