ISLAMABAD (MNN); The Pakistan Airports Authority announced on Saturday that flight operations at Islamabad International Airport will remain temporarily suspended for two hours on March 16.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the authority said that flight operations at the airport would be halted from 08:30am to 10:30am Pakistan Standard Time due to operational reasons.
The authority advised passengers planning to travel during that period to stay in contact with their respective airlines for updates regarding their flights.
According to a Notice to Airmen (Notam) issued by the aviation authority, certain segments of air traffic service routes within the Lahore Flight Information Region will remain unavailable from ground level up to flight level 210 due to operational requirements.
The notice further stated that both arrival and departure operations at Islamabad International Airport would remain closed during the specified time. Pilots of incoming flights have also been advised to carry sufficient holding fuel to manage possible delays.
The latest notice follows a similar Notam issued on March 12, which restricted flights on the same route segments for three hours and fifteen minutes.
Media reports had linked the earlier restriction to rehearsal activities for the upcoming Pakistan Day celebrations, particularly a flypast demonstration scheduled as part of the event.
Earlier this month, after tensions escalated following the war involving Iran, the Pakistan Airports Authority had clarified that Pakistan’s airspace remained fully open, safe, and available for all civil aviation traffic.
