KARACHI (MNN); Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was conferred an honorary doctorate by a private university during a ceremony held at Governor House Sindh on Monday.
The event was hosted by Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, who lauded the religious community for remaining steadfast in its values and principles.

Addressing the audience, Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticised the treatment of Afghan refugees, stating that Pakistan’s decades-long hospitality had been undermined.
He also described the 2018 and 2024 general elections as rigged and demanded the conduct of fresh elections.
On constitutional issues, the JUI-F chief urged that the 26th Constitutional Amendment should not be turned into a controversial matter.
The ceremony reflected the prevailing political debate in the country, with JUI-F reiterating its stance on electoral transparency, constitutional continuity and national cohesion.
