Web Desk (MNN); Security forces have killed 13 terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations carried out in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.
The military’s media wing said the operations were conducted on December 12 and 13, 2025, during which 13 khwarij linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna Al Khwarij were neutralised. The term Fitna-al-Khawarij is used by the state for militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
According to ISPR, the first intelligence-based operation was launched in Mohmand district following reports about the presence of terrorists in the area. During the operation, security forces effectively engaged the militants’ hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, seven terrorists were killed.
The second operation was carried out in Bannu district, where troops successfully eliminated six more terrorists during a separate engagement.
The statement added that sanitisation operations are underway to ensure the complete clearance of the areas and to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants. ISPR said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to their counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
“The relentless counterterrorism operations will continue at full pace to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the statement said.
Earlier this year, Pakistan ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, which reported a 45 per cent increase in terrorism-related deaths compared to the previous year. The index, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace, highlights global terrorism trends over the past 17 years.
Last month, security forces had also killed 22 terrorists during another operation in Bannu district.
