ISLAMABAD; Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Wednesday announced the successful completion of repair work on a repeater installed in an undersea cable, leading to the full restoration of internet speed and connectivity across the country.
The maintenance operation began on the morning of October 14 under the supervision of the International Cable Consortium and was successfully completed.
PTCL stated that following the repair, the network is now operating optimally, improving overall online access for users nationwide.
Prior to the repair work, PTCL had alerted consumers about possible degradation or partial disruption of internet services due to maintenance activity on one of its submarine cables.
In a statement issued on Monday, the company’s spokesperson had said that the repair of a faulty repeater in the submarine cable system had been scheduled by the international consortium.
Pakistan has faced repeated internet disruptions in recent years, often caused by faults in undersea cables. Authorities have pledged to strengthen the country’s connectivity in the coming months and have announced plans to roll out 5G services, initially in major cities.
