NAWABSHAH; A high-level government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a crucial meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at Zardari House on Wednesday.

According to sources, the meeting marked a major step toward easing tensions between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Both sides agreed to stop the exchange of public statements and to work together to improve coalition harmony.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed President Zardari on his recent discussion with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It was agreed that the Prime Minister would take party supremo Nawaz Sharif into confidence, paving the way for a future meeting between Nawaz Sharif and President Zardari.

Participants also agreed that PPP leadership would receive in-camera briefings on the Prime Minister’s recent visits to London, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, including details of agreements signed during those trips. In future, the government will keep the PPP informed in advance on all major national and policy matters.

The leaders hinted at meetings with other allied parties to ensure broader coordination within the coalition.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an important consultative meeting with senior party leaders Ayaz Sadiq, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, and Ranjha Tanveer Hussain to review the political situation. He directed the delegation to address PPP’s concerns through dialogue and understanding.

Meanwhile, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) on October 18 at Bilawal House, Karachi. The session is expected to discuss the political situation and developments in Nawabshah, with important decisions regarding PPP’s strategy likely to be made.
