KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised Ethiopian Airlines for its pivotal role in enhancing Pakistan-Africa ties, calling it a game-changer for the country’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies, during a high-level meeting with Ethiopia’s Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula in Karachi on Tuesday.
The two leaders discussed the growing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Ethiopia across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, aviation, tourism, culture, and climate change. They also explored potential new areas of collaboration, particularly in agriculture and agro-processing, education, and health, aimed at further strengthening ties.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker praised the Chief Minister’s recent initiative to host a high-level Ethiopian delegation for a Green Dialogue at the Chief Minister’s Sindh House, highlighting its importance in formalizing bilateral cooperation on climate change.
He also briefed the Chief Minister on preparations in Addis Ababa for Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition scheduled for October in Ethiopia, emphasizing the event’s role in enhancing trade and cultural exchanges.
Both leaders highlighted the growing connectivity between Pakistan and Africa, facilitated by Ethiopian Airlines, terming it a key instrument for Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the Ambassador’s effective role in strengthening bilateral relations and vowed to further enhance cooperation to elevate the partnership to a higher level.
Mr. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, was also present during the meeting.
