WEB DESK; After years of anticipation, Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan’s long-delayed film Neelofar is finally heading to cinemas this winter. The film, originally scheduled for release in December 2022, faced repeated delays, reportedly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving fans waiting eagerly for updates.
The official confirmation came through a joint Instagram post by the film’s team, captioned: “Agli mulaqat ka intezar rahay ga… Neelofar — This winter.” The post also featured a short video, silhouetting a man and woman pressing their foreheads together against a crimson backdrop.
Written and directed by Ammar Rasool, Neelofar features Fawad Khan as Mansoor Ali Khan and Mahira Khan in the titular role. The star-studded cast also includes Madiha Imam, Samiya Mumtaz, Behroze Sabzwari, Atiqa Odho, and Gohar Rasheed. Produced by Usaf Shariq, with Fawad Khan and Hassaan Khalid as executive producers, the project has been described as a passion piece years in the making.
Mahira, in an emotional note after wrapping up filming in 2020, wrote: “I take with me a piece of you, leaving a bit of my soul with you… My darling Neelofar, I shall miss you so much. Each and every one of them put their heart and soul into it. Can’t wait for you all to see our hard work and love on screen soon.”
Neelofar also marks the third major collaboration between Mahira and Fawad after their iconic drama Humsafar and their blockbuster reunion in The Legend of Maula Jatt. With fans long awaiting their return to the big screen together, this winter promises to make that wish come true.
Though the exact release date has not been disclosed, the announcement has set social media abuzz, with fans counting down to the long-awaited premiere.
