NEW YORK; President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored his country’s economic and innovation priorities during a high-profile roundtable meeting with leading American business executives, investment funds, and financial institutions in New York.

The gathering was attended by top officials, including US Presidential Envoys Sergio Gor and Paolo Zampolli, Under Secretary of Commerce William Kimmitt, and Chairperson of the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm. Business leaders from major corporations such as Franklin Templeton, Citigroup, BNY Mellon, NASDAQ, Boeing, Mastercard, Visa, Nvidia, Oppenheimer, Cargill, and Cleveland Clinic also participated.

In his remarks, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the recent conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which both sides agreed to broaden economic cooperation and develop a long-term project portfolio. He noted that bilateral trade had quadrupled in the past eight years and that over 300 American firms had already invested in Uzbekistan.

Key areas identified for collaboration include processing of critical minerals, sustainable supply chains, IT, artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, energy, digitalization, and infrastructure development.

American companies praised Uzbekistan’s improved business climate and expressed readiness to participate in new projects across these sectors.

At the conclusion of the event, a signing ceremony was held in the presence of President Mirziyoyev and US Envoy Sergio Gor. Multiple agreements were finalized, including:

  • A long-term transport cooperation deal between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport and Boeing.
  • A joint venture on mining and processing equipment between Technopark LLC and FLSmidth.
  • A healthcare and education partnership between Akfa Group and Cleveland Clinic.
  • Cooperation agreements with Citigroup, Cargill Financial Services, Oppenheimer, Uztransgaz, and others in areas spanning energy, finance, and biotechnology.

The agreements reflect a deepening of economic ties between Uzbekistan and the United States, setting the stage for expanded bilateral cooperation in the years ahead.

Colombo, Sri Lanka: Pakistan has secured a bronze medal at the Asian Six Red Team Snooker Championship, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The achievement comes after Pakistan One, comprised of Muhammad Asif and Awais Munir, lost their semi-final match. In a hard-fought contest, the Malaysian duo of Lim Kok Leong and Thor Chuan Leong defeated the Pakistani pair by 3 frames to 1. The Malaysian team posted frame scores of 89-24, 75-42, 65-25, and 84-47. Despite the loss in the semi-final, Pakistan One's strong performance throughout the tournament earned them a commendable third-place finish. This adds to Pakistan's success in the championship, as earlier in the individual Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship, Muhammad Asif also secured a bronze medal after reaching the semi-finals.
