CHENGDU; President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Chengdu on Friday, marking the beginning of his official visit to China aimed at further consolidating the close ties between the two countries.
At Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, he was warmly received by China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Vice Governor of Sichuan Province Huang Ruixue. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, were also present to welcome the President.
During the visit, President Zardari is scheduled to hold meetings with the Chinese leadership and senior officials to deepen bilateral cooperation in multiple fields, including trade, investment, and regional connectivity.
The discussions are also expected to focus on progress under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative that has remained central to Pak-China economic collaboration.
The visit reflects the long-standing tradition of high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Beijing. Both nations describe their relationship as an “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership,” underscoring mutual trust, shared development goals, and consistent support on regional and international issues.
