ISLAMABAD; Pakistan has secured another milestone in parliamentary diplomacy with the appointment of Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate, as Ambassador of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC).

The development follows shortly after Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was named the founding President of the ISC, a move that places Pakistan at the forefront of this emerging global platform.

As Ambassador, Ms. Khar will lead ISC’s international outreach and engagement. She has previously represented Pakistan and the Senate at several high-level global forums and contributed analytical writings to international publications, including The Washington Times.

Her appointment highlights her growing influence in parliamentary diplomacy and recognizes her efforts in amplifying Pakistan’s voice on the global stage.

The ISC is a newly established international initiative dedicated to fostering dialogue among parliaments, promoting cooperation, and building consensus on pressing global issues. Its mission includes strengthening democratic values, advancing sustainable development, and addressing challenges such as conflict resolution, economic collaboration, and climate change.

Pakistan will host the inaugural ISC Conference in November 2025, bringing together Speakers, parliamentarians, diplomats, and policymakers from across the world. The event will spotlight major themes including sustainable development, regional connectivity, peacebuilding, and climate action, positioning Pakistan as a hub for parliamentary dialogue and collaboration.

The recognition of Ms. Khar as ISC Ambassador, backed by 45 Speakers and 103 participants, is seen as both a personal achievement and an institutional honor for the Senate of Pakistan. It reflects the country’s growing leadership in international parliamentary diplomacy and underscores its commitment to shaping global discourse through dialogue and cooperation.
