During the session, Dr. Adefires Worku Gizaw, Chair of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Technical Committee, presented Ethiopia’s strategy under Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s Green Legacy Initiative, focusing on afforestation, reforestation, food security, soil and water management, and job creation. From Pakistan’s side, Zubair Ahmed, Secretary of Environment and Climate Change, briefed the participants on Sindh’s climate change policy and the province’s green initiatives.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal highlighted Ethiopia’s role as a global leader in climate action, emphasizing the urgent need to address the devastating impacts of climate change, which threaten lives, livelihoods, and socio-economic development in developing countries. He underscored the importance of Pakistan–Ethiopia collaboration within the framework of the Green Legacy Initiative.

Inviting Sindh’s participation in the upcoming Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, scheduled for September 8–10, 2025, the ambassador encouraged the provincial government to contribute to global climate dialogue.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah appreciated Ethiopia’s initiative in organizing the Green Legacy Dialogue and expressed Sindh’s commitment to deepening cooperation in environmental protection and food security. He confirmed that Sindh would send a delegation to Ethiopia to participate in the Africa Climate Summit.
