FAISALABAD; Anti-Terrorism Court Faisalabad has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader Omar Ayub to appear before it on August 18 following contempt of court proceedings initiated against him.

The action comes after Omar Ayub issued a disrespectful statement on social media targeting the court’s 10-year imprisonment verdict against him in the high-profile May 9 case.

The court has directed Faisalabad police to ensure his attendance, signaling a strict approach toward safeguarding judicial authority.

Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had earlier sentenced PTI central leader Omar Ayub and others to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in connection with the May 9 violence case.

Following the verdict, Omar Ayub posted a statement on social media that was deemed disrespectful and insulting towards the court.

In response, the court took suo motu notice of Omar Ayub’s remarks and initiated contempt of court proceedings against him. Subsequently, a formal summons has been issued, directing Omar Ayub to appear before the court.

The Faisalabad City Police Officer has been ordered to ensure Omar Ayub’s presence in court on August 18 to answer the contempt charges. This development highlights the judiciary’s firm stance on maintaining respect for its orders and authority amidst the politically sensitive May 9 cases.
