ISLAMABAD; The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced the auction of major properties linked to Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz Hussain, scheduled to take place on August 7, 2025, at the NAB Rawalpindi office in G-6/1, Islamabad.

This move is part of Pakistan’s efforts to recover assets following the 2019 agreement between the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) and Malik Riaz’s family, in which £190 million (approximately Rs38 billion) were surrendered. The funds, later repatriated to Pakistan, were meant to be used in the public interest but became controversial due to lack of transparency regarding their allocation. In response, NAB initiated investigations into the origins of the assets and the manner in which they were handled domestically.

Malik Riaz, one of Pakistan’s most well-known real estate developers, has faced repeated accusations of acquiring land and wealth through non-transparent practices. NAB has alleged that his business empire was built using undue influence and at a substantial cost to the national exchequer.

NAB has stated that all proceeds from the auction will be deposited into the government treasury. It has invited the public to take part in the bidding process and mentioned that more information, including terms and eligibility for
