ISLAMABAD; Authorities in Islamabad have decided to launch digital vehicle cards in a bid to ease the burden on citizens of carrying physical documents related to their vehicles. Once implemented, vehicle owners will no longer be required to keep hard copies of registration papers, licenses, or files.
Instead, each vehicle will be assigned a digital book that will be stored in the owner’s mobile wallet. This digital book will contain all essential vehicle details, including traffic challan records.
The digital cards will also be integrated with all smart parking plazas across the city. In case the vehicle owner doesn’t have cash at hand, parking fees will be automatically deducted from the digital card linked to the vehicle.
Confirming the development, Islamabad’s Director of Excise and Taxation, Bilal Azam, said digital vehicle cards are being introduced, and the overall process of vehicle transfer is also being digitized. As part of this initiative, biometric verification for vehicle transfers will be facilitated remotely, allowing citizens to complete the process from their homes via mobile devices.
This move is part of broader efforts to modernize public services and make them more accessible and efficient for Islamabad residents.
