Eight newly elected senators sworn in by Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani

Islamabad: In a formal ceremony held at the Senate Hall of the Parliament House on Thursday, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani administered the oath to eight newly elected members of the Upper House, marking their official induction into the Senate. Following the oath-taking, the senators signed the roll register, completing the constitutional formalities.

Among those who took the oath were former federal minister Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, former senator Faisal Javed Khan, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson and PPP leader Rubina Khalid, and Senator Talha Mehmood. The list also included Niaz Ahmed, Dilawar Khan, Atta-ul-Haq, and former Deputy Chairman Senate Mirza Muhammad Afridi.

Welcoming the new members, Chairman Gillani expressed optimism that their presence would enhance the effectiveness of parliamentary proceedings and contribute meaningfully to legislative debates. The event concluded with the senators exchanging pleasantries with the chairman in a cordial atmosphere.
