DHAKA; In a significant display of regional unity, cricket administrators from across Asia gathered in Dhaka for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), where key discussions were held to chart the future of the sport in the continent.

The meeting saw representation from all 25 member nations, with ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi acknowledging the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for its exceptional hospitality over the two-day session.

Speaking at a press briefing following the AGM, Naqvi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized the shared commitment among members to elevate cricket across Asia. “We have pledged to work collectively for the betterment of cricket in the region,” he said, underscoring the collaborative spirit of the gathering.

Describing the meetings as “productive and memorable,” Naqvi said they took place in a highly constructive and non-political environment. “Everyone showed genuine enthusiasm — these two days will be remembered for their positive engagement.”

On the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025, Naqvi stated that a decision regarding the tournament’s format and host will be made soon. Discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are currently underway, and he expressed optimism about reaching a consensus.

“An official announcement is expected shortly,” he said, reaffirming ongoing talks with the Indian board.

When asked about the absence of some delegates, Naqvi clarified that all member boards were represented, even if not every official could attend in person. “It’s normal — I’ve also missed meetings in the past due to other commitments,” he noted.

Emphasizing the value of unity, Naqvi said such gatherings are essential to the sport’s growth in Asia and confirmed that discussions with the BCB on bilateral matters are progressing. “Please wait for the official announcement,” he concluded.
