Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a series of mobile education initiatives under the School Education Department. The projects—School on Wheels, Library on Wheels, and Mobile Library—are designed to bring learning resources directly to children in underserved communities across the province.

Announcing the initiatives, the Chief Minister emphasized the transformative power of education, stating, “If you study, you will grow.” She explained that School on Wheels will consist of electric rickshaws equipped with solar panels, folding chairs, and umbrella-like canopies to facilitate street-side classrooms. These mobile units will be stocked with books, educational toys, and painting kits aimed at nurturing creativity and curiosity among children.

In addition, the Library on Wheels project will use cartoon-themed minivans to attract young readers. These mobile libraries will offer both curricular and extracurricular reading materials and will visit various neighborhoods, fields, and public spaces to encourage reading habits among children.

The Mobile Library project, meanwhile, will feature fully equipped buses furnished with tables and chairs to provide a comfortable reading space. These buses will offer a diverse selection of books in Urdu, English, and science subjects, along with educational magazines, catering to children’s varied learning needs.

Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat presented a detailed briefing on the implementation and vision behind these initiatives, which aim to make education more accessible and engaging for children in hard-to-reach areas.
