Bushra Bibi’s Son Musa Maneka Arrested for Attempted Murder of Servant

PAKPATTAN; Punjab Police on Thursday arrested Musa Maneka, the son of former First Lady Bushra Bibi, over an alleged attempted murder incident at his residence in Pakpattan. According to police officials, Maneka is accused of shooting a domestic servant during a dispute inside the family home.

The incident was formally reported through a First Information Report (FIR) filed at the Saddar Police Station under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which deals with attempted murder. The complaint was lodged by the father of the injured servant, who also worked at the Maneka residence.

According to the FIR, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. when the victim placed two bedsheets outside the bedroom. Musa Maneka reportedly questioned the servant about touching the bedsheets, to which the young man responded, “I kept the sheets outside with care.” The FIR states that this minor disagreement quickly escalated, and Maneka, in a fit of rage, pulled out a pistol and shot the servant.

The bullet struck the victim in front of his left knee and exited through the leg, causing him to collapse in pain. The complainant further stated that two other witnesses arrived at the scene after hearing the gunfire.

District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Iqbal Chaddar confirmed the incident saying that police responded promptly to an emergency call and immediately reached the location. “I personally entered the premises, confronted the accused, and arrested him on the spot,” DPO Chaddar said. He added that the weapon used in the shooting had been recovered, and Musa Maneka was currently being held at the Saddar Police Station.

The injured servant was quickly transported by Rescue 1122 to the District Headquarters Hospital in Pakpattan, where he is receiving medical treatment. The DPO emphasized that the case would be pursued strictly according to the law, stating, “No one is above the law, and the suspect will not be spared.”

Musa Maneka is no stranger to legal troubles. In August 2023, he, his father Khawar Maneka, and an elder brother were indicted in a corruption case filed by the Deputy Commissioner of Okara. Additionally, an FIR was registered against him in February 2022 for possession of liquor, further tarnishing his legal record.

Musa Maneka belongs to a prominent political and spiritual family from Pakpattan. His mother, Bushra Bibi, was previously married to Khawar Maneka before her high-profile marriage to former Prime Minister Imran Khan in 2018.

Bushra Bibi, known for her deep spiritual influence and low public profile, served as Pakistan’s First Lady during Imran Khan’s tenure and continues to attract media attention due to ongoing political and legal controversies surrounding the former ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

This latest incident involving her son adds further scrutiny to the Maneka family and highlights growing concerns over elite impunity in Pakistan’s justice system. Authorities have pledged a full investigation, with the police reiterating their commitment to ensuring that the law is applied equally, regardless of social or political status.
