Islamabad: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, will lead the country’s delegation to the upcoming meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), scheduled to take place from July 14 to 16, 2025, in Tianjin, China.

The high-level forum will gather top diplomats from all SCO member states and is expected to lay the groundwork for decisions and declarations ahead of the SCO Heads of State Summit later this year.

The invitation for participation was extended by China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi. The CFM, which ranks as the third most important decision-making body in the SCO structure, plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s foreign policy direction and regional security priorities.

It is tasked with reviewing and approving policy documents and statements that are subsequently considered by the Council of Heads of State (CHS), which is scheduled to convene in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, 2025.

This year’s meeting will also mark the first participation of Belarus as a full member of the SCO, joining member states including Pakistan, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

On the sidelines of the CFM, Senator Ishaq Dar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts, further strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and regional cooperation within the SCO framework.
