Islamabad: Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Sunday visited the historic Saidpur Model Village to review ongoing beautification and upgradation efforts, expressing satisfaction with the progress and reaffirming his vision to transform Islamabad into a modern, tourist-friendly capital. He also emphasized a strict policy against environmental violations, as CDA successfully reclaimed encroached land in the Margalla Hills National Park through a recent enforcement operation.

Accompanied by Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, Director General Environment, Deputy DG Enforcement, Director DMA, and other senior officials, Randhawa received a detailed briefing on the developments at the centuries-old cultural site. The enhancements are being executed with the assistance of a team of architects and horticulture experts from Baku, whose expertise, according to Randhawa, will help establish Saidpur as a “state-of-the-art model village meeting international standards.”

Randhawa expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts and directed that all enhancement works be completed at the earliest. He called for the deployment of all available resources to accelerate the project, stating, “We envision Islamabad as one of the most beautiful and modern capitals in the world, equipped with world-class tourist and leisure facilities.”

During the visit, CDA officials also briefed the chairman on a recent enforcement operation in the Margalla Hills National Park. The operation resulted in the demolition of 13 illegal structures and the recovery of around 23 kanals of encroached government land. The reclaimed area has now been handed over to the Environment Wing for restoration and integration into the national park ecosystem.

Reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on encroachments and environmental degradation, Randhawa said, “No encroachments or violations will be tolerated in Margalla Hills or any other part of Islamabad. We are fully committed to protecting the city’s natural heritage and scenic beauty.”

The Saidpur Village uplift initiative is part of a broader set of CDA projects aimed at improving Islamabad’s urban landscape, promoting eco-tourism, and ensuring sustainable development with active community participation.
