ISLAMABAD; Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the launch of a comprehensive reform process aimed at dismantling outdated systems in the country and boosting the performance of ministries.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Friday, where the Ministry of Power presented an in-depth briefing on expert-led reforms and governance improvements, the Prime Minister emphasized that national progress is impossible under obsolete frameworks. He underscored the urgent need to modernize and digitize the country’s governance structures, calling it one of the government’s highest priorities.

The Prime Minister highlighted the value of engaging internationally acclaimed experts to drive systemic transformation. Citing the Ministry of Power’s successful reforms—resulting in reduced losses and substantial savings for the national treasury—he urged other ministries to follow suit.

To accelerate this agenda, the Prime Minister ordered the formation of a committee to draft proposals on recruiting top-tier talent, aligning ministries with modern systems, and enhancing governance through reforms. This committee will prepare actionable plans for overhauling other ministries and departments, taking lessons from the Ministry of Power’s achievements.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Dr Musadik Malik, Ahad Khan Cheema, Sardar Awais Leghari, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kiyani, Chief Coordinator Mosharraf Zaidi, and other senior officials.
