Pakistan Army vows firm action against Indian-Backed proxies; condemns New Delhi’s strategy

Rawalpindi: In a strong rebuke of India’s recent strategic posturing, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir has termed New Delhi’s efforts to involve third parties in bilateral military tensions a baseless attempt to promote bloc politics and portray itself misleadingly as a regional net security provider.

He asserted that Pakistan’s national security and protection of its people remain the top priority of the armed forces, and the blood of its martyrs will not go in vain.

Chairing the Corps Commanders Conference at GHQ Rawalpindi, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) reviewed recent developments including terrorist attacks carried out by Indian-sponsored proxies.

The forum offered prayers for the martyrs of these attacks and assessed the recent successes achieved by Pakistani security forces in counterterrorism operations.

The military leadership reaffirmed its resolve to continue decisive and comprehensive action against Indian-backed proxy networks at all levels. The forum condemned India’s increasing use of hybrid warfare and proxy elements—especially in the aftermath of its setbacks in incidents like the Pahalgam episode—and noted New Delhi’s attempts to advance its agenda through the “Fitna-e-Khawarij” and “Fitna-e-Hindustan.”

General Munir also briefed the conference on Pakistan’s recent diplomatic engagements alongside the Prime Minister in countries including Iran, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

The forum was further informed about the Army Chief’s landmark and strategic visit to the United States, during which Pakistan’s principled stance on bilateral, regional, and international matters was directly conveyed to top U.S. leadership.

In light of recent developments in the Middle East and Iran, the forum held a comprehensive review of Pakistan’s internal and external security landscape. Concern was expressed over the growing global trend of using force as a primary policy instrument, emphasizing the urgent need for self-reliance and national cohesion.

General Munir underscored that India’s attempts to escalate tensions and involve external actors are designed to manipulate its regional image and divert attention from its expansionist goals and rising Hindutva extremism—trends increasingly recognized and criticized by the global community.

The forum also received updates on Pakistan Army’s evolving strategic doctrine and modernization efforts in response to emerging threats. The COAS praised the role of the Pakistan Navy and Air Force in strengthening tri-services coordination and expressed full confidence in the operational preparedness of the armed forces to counter any threat facing the country.
