Naqvi orders crackdown on Hawala, Beggar Mafias, Fake Drugs, Smuggled Goods

KARACHI; Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed a robust and indiscriminate crackdown against hawala-hundi networks, beggar mafias, counterfeit medicines, and non-custom paid goods.

During a visit to the FIA Karachi Zone, the minister chaired a high-level meeting where he instructed the agency to take immediate action against illegal money transfers and related activities. Naqvi emphasized that strict measures must be taken to curb these unlawful practices to protect the economy and public welfare.

He also emphasised action against agents smuggling beggars abroad, noting that such networks damage Pakistan’s international image.

While issuing directives to bring to bring to justice the elements involved in hawala hundi said this illegal network be eliminated without succumbing to any pressure. This mafia is major threat to national economy.

Naqvi directed to take stern action against  agents involved in sending the beggars abroad.

This mafia is not only involved in human trafficking  but it is hurting  international image of Pakistan at international level.

He stressed deported professional beggars be taken into custody upon return immediately

He  declared zero tolerance for counterfeit medicine businesses, calling for strict legal action against those involved and saying, “People running this criminal trade belong in jail.”

Naqvi further instructed enforcement against non-custom paid goods and ordered action against travelers carrying over $5,000 abroad, insisting on legal proceedings in such cases.

Meeting was attended by Additional DG South Mujahid Akbar Khan, along with deputy and assistant directors from anti-money laundering, immigration, and anti-corruption units.

FIA Karachi Zone Director Nauman Siddiq gave detailed briefing to  interior minister  on performance of FIA, ongoing operations and  challenges being faced by it.
