LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing clear orders regarding protection of trees on Canal Road has remarked not a single tree be cut under any project on Canal road.
The court issued these orders during hearing of different petitions regarding eradication of smog Friday.
The court remarked the trees there on Canal road are decades old and climate friendly. Cutting them will be harmful for climate .

The court also reminded a decision from Supreme Court against cutting of trees on canal road is there too.
During the hearing of the case the court remarked about sky scrapers in Central Business District (CBD) that these will be built in line with international environmental standard. Planting greenery on their roofs will be compulsory so that environemntal balance could be maintained.
The court inquired from Punjab government counsel about Yellow Bus project.

The counsel told the court government is introducing electric yellow buses and surveys are underway in this regard.
The court while expressing satisfaction over it said you must introduce the project. We are not against it but trees should be saved on Canal road at every cost.

The court remarked the effects of climate change is before all of us. Therefore, no such project be introduced which causes harm to climate or it results into cutting of trees.
