A senior member of Iran’s Expediency Council has lauded Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei for personally steering the country’s military response during the latest confrontation with Israeli and American forces.
Mohsen Rezaei said on Wednesday that Ayatollah Khamenei, the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, was directly leading Iranís operations in the fight against the recent Israeli and American war.
It was the first time that the Leader directly commanded the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in the operations, Rezaei added.
Despite being assisted by Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and the commander of Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, Ayatollah Khamenei issued orders directly to command and lead the war, Rezaei stated.
He also noted that Iran decided to confine its counterattacks to specific areas with purposeful attacks on certain targets, mainly Israeli military and command sites.
Rezaei warned that Iranís response to any fresh act of aggression will be much harsher and more extensive.
The Zionist regime waged an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on June 13. It carried out airstrikes on Iranís nuclear, military and residential sites that resulted in the martyrdom of over 930 people, including top military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians.
The Iranian military forces started counterattacks immediately afterwards. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force carried out 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes against the Zionist regime as part of Operation True Promise III that inflicted heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.
A ceasefire that came into force on June 24 brought the fighting to a halt.
