PESHAWAR; The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Wildlife Department has set a new record by earning $1.91 million through the auction of 39 trophy hunting permits for the 2025-26 season.
According to official figures, the four exportable markhor permits attracted the highest bids, bringing in $946,000. Meanwhile, nine non-exportable markhor permits generated $553,300, and 20 ibex permits were auctioned for $16,042. Additionally, six grey goral permits earned $398,500.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Wildlife, Peer Masoor Khan, highlighted that this was the first time a grey goral permit was included in the auction, which helped boost revenues to an all-time high.
He further stated that the funds will be invested in wildlife conservation projects and the development of local communities. The department has also initiated a rewilding programme to restore the population of chinkara, urial, and blackbuck in KP.
