ISLAMABAD; The District and Sessions Court Islamabad on Tuesday heard the case of TikToker Samia Hijab’s alleged abduction and threats, where the bail plea of the main accused, Hassan Zahid, was rejected.
Following the court’s decision, police immediately placed the accused under arrest in a fresh case as well. During proceedings, investigators requested an eight-day physical remand, arguing that further interrogation was necessary. However, the judge dismissed the request and instead ordered Hassan Zahid to be sent to jail on judicial remand.
The case first emerged when popular TikToker Samia Hijab alleged that Hassan Zahid had kidnapped her and issued serious threats. The incident drew widespread attention on social media, where users called for justice and urged authorities to ensure her safety. The police registered an FIR in Islamabad and began investigations, but critics accused law enforcement of being slow and non-transparent in handling the matter.
The controversy intensified after several audio and video clips, purportedly linked to the case, circulated online, further fueling public anger. Supporters of Samia Hijab demanded strict action, while Zahid’s legal team maintained his innocence and called the allegations fabricated.
Tuesday’s court order marks a crucial development in the case. With Zahid now on judicial remand, the police have indicated that they may pursue additional angles of investigation as new evidence surfaces. The proceedings are being closely watched as a test of the justice system’s ability to handle cases involving high-profile social media figures in Pakistan.
