ISLAMABAD; ISLAMABAD; Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that the party will actively contest all upcoming by-elections and will not leave the electoral field open for the government under any circumstances.
“We will challenge the government at every level, including inside the Parliament,” said PTI Chair-man Barrister Gohar Ali Khan while speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House on Thurs-day.
His remarks come just days after PTI staged a nationwide protest on August 5, marking two years since the incarceration of party founder Imran Khan.
The protest, held under the banner of “Release the Leader, Restore Democracy,” witnessed participation in over 170 districts across the country.
PTI parliamentarians led rallies in their respective constituencies, demanding free and fair elections and the release of their incarcerated leader.
Gohar highlighted that the protest’s success reaffirmed the party’s widespread grassroots support, saying, “People came out in large numbers, and our parliamentarians were at the forefront across various regions.”
He stressed that the current leadership within PTI had endured immense pressure and hardship but remained unwavering in their loyalty. “These are not compromised individuals. They rejected offers worth millions and continue to stand firmly with our founder,” he added.
Reiterating PTI’s electoral strategy, Gohar said, “We will not allow the government to secure an uncontested victory in the by-polls. I will be meeting our founding chairman soon to present my viewpoint on this matter.”
The PTI Chairman concluded by affirming the party’s continued role within the legislature: “We are in this Parliament and we will remain in this Parliament.”
